Things You Can Do

There are thousands of things we can do to end child abuse. Rainbird is creating a list of 1,000 things we can do. Check it out. Do one today. Or if you're busy washing your hair or rearranging your sock drawer today, do it tomorrow. But do it. We'll add to it regularly. Come up with your own ideas and send them to us @: info@rainbirdfoundation.org

1. Google child abuse to find out what it is.

2. Learn about organizations that support child abuse.

3. Find out which organizations don’t support child abuse.  

4.  Stop hitting your child.

5.  Get help if you can't stop hitting your child.

6.  Learn a new way to discipline.

7.  Help a friend or family member who is abusing. Call us for more info.

8.  Help a friend or family member who is abused. Call us for more info.

9.  Talk to people about the end of child abuse.

10. Sign up for Facebook and become a fan of Rainbird

11. Have your friends and family become fans of Rainbird on Facebook.

12. Research local laws - are they contributing to ending child abuse? 

13. Google your local politicians. Read their website. Are they committed to children's issues? Do they talk about the end of child abuse? 

14. If they don’t, call or write them and ask them why!

15. Choose your words wisely when speaking to children.

16. Make your friend take action if he or she knows a child is being abused.

17. Enroll in a parenting class or workshop to hone your parenting skills.

18. Get your spouse to do the parenting class/workshop with you.

19. Get your friend to do a parenting class/workshop with you.

20. Get your friend to bring their spouse to the parenting class/workshop.

21. Get therapy to recover from abuse. We have resources for you. Call us.

22. Don’t let anyone hit your child.

23. Don’t let anyone hit any child.

24. If you have been abused, tell someone. 

25. If you’re being abused, tell someone! The police, your school, a friend.

26. Tell your local politicians about annual national child abuse stats. They will find out that we don't have any. 

27. Call us to find out how to do a 1,000 Mile journey.

28. Sign up for a 1,000 Mile Journey.

29. Host a 1,000 Mile Journey in your city.

30. Create a project that will forward the end of child abuse in your city.

31. Call us for support to make that project successful!  

32. Have your friends create a project to end child abuse.

51. Buy a Child Abuse Extinguisher for the end of abuse. At our online store.

52. Add “no child abuse” to your family’s rules. Talk about that.

53. Make “Jeans Friday” at work. Collect $5 from each person who wears jeans. Give the money to a child abuse agency committed to the end. 

54.Talk to people at work about things to do for the end of child abuse.

55.Watch a news report about child abuse. 

56. Read a report about child abuse.

57. Tell your kids, friends, family, or workmates about the report.

58. Get a book that addresses child abuse and read it.

59. Take the book to your book club and have them read it.  

60. Learn about the different kinds of abuse.

61.Find a website with the kind you’re interested in and learn more.

62. Find local child abuse resources.

63. Be a resource for people by knowing all of the local resources.

64. Read a story about a child being abused.

65. Share that story with others.

66. Find out about the CRC.

70. Write your politicians. Tell them what you think about the CRC!

71. Contribute money to The Rainbird Foundation

72. Contribute money to organizations committed to the end of child abuse.

73. Stop someone in public who is abusing a child.

74. Talk to your place of worship about Rainbird. Invite us out to speak.

75. Have us speak at a free public talk in your city or community.

76. Write your local newspaper about your stand for the end of child abuse.

77. Get on the radio and discuss your stand for the end of child abuse.

78. Don't laugh at a joke that includes any child abuse reference. 

79. Get your friend to talk about their abuse until someone helps. 

80. Get your friend to keep talking about it until they feel better.

81. Ask us to come to your school to talk about the end of child abuse.

82. Ask us to come to your girl scout or boy scout group to talk about abuse.

83. Invite us to your club or organization to talk about the end of abuse. 

84. Become a mentor for a child in the foster care system.

85. Become a big brother or big sister for an abused child.

86. Become a foster family and take in abused child.

87. Become a Friend of Rainbird and contribute $ monthly to the end.

88. Get your friends to be Friends of Rainbird.

89. Get your place of worship to be a Friend of Rainbird.

90. Get your workplace to be a Friend of Rainbird.

91. Make your company or business a Friend of Rainbird.

92. Visit a home for abused children. Give your time to a child who needs it.

93. Give christmas gifts to a home for abused children.

94. Turn your birthday into a gift-giving opportunity for a local group committed to the end of child abuse.

95. Turn your birthday into a gift-giving opportunity for Rainbird.

96.Contribute time at The Rainbird Foundation.

97. Invite others to volunteer at Rainbird.

98. Contribute time at any non-profit committed to the end of child abuse.

99. Invite others to volunteer at a non-profit committed to the end of abuse.
